Projects
Copies available upon request.Housing Covenants & Long-Term Health Outcomes: Evidence from the Twin Cities (ECO483 Final Project)
Used Mapping Prejudice data to examine the long-term census-tract level health impacts of racial housing covenants. Found that covenanted neighborhoods had causally higher modern-day health outcomes, an effect that was robust to slight exclusion restriction violations.
What do Healthy Places Look Like? CZ-Level Income, Education, and Place-Effects on Health (ECO483 Midterm Project)
Used Finkelstein, Gentzkow, and Williams (2021) data to further examine the covariates consistent with better commuting-zone level causal place effects on health.
School Equality and Opportunity (ECO375 Project)
Used Chetty et al’s dataset on intergenerational mobility to analyze the relationship between school funding equality and student outcomes in the US. Found that areas with higher school funding inequality have a higher opportunity gap, holding fixed race, income, and degree of segregation.
Minority Move-ins and Home Value Appreciation (ECO225 Project)
Using Zillow home value index data and FNMA/FHLMC mortgage data, I analyzed the impact of minority move-ins on neighborhood home value appreciation. Found that minority move-ins have a small negative effect on home value appreciation, but the effect is not statistically significant.
